Arlington Heights Residents to Weigh in on Camelot Park Expansion Plans

A community input meeting will be held on Feb. 28.

Arlington Heights' residents will be able to sound off on floor plans for the Camelot Park expansion project at a meeting later this month. 

An input meeting on renovation improvements for the Camelot Park Community Center will be held on Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. at the community center, 1005 E. Suffield Drive, according to the Arlington Heights Park District website. There, residents will be able to provide any input and comments on the project.

Following the input meeting, officials will consider any community feedback when putting together its plan to present to board in March, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The Arlington Heights Park District approved the proposed improvements to the community center during a meeting in January. 

Proposed changes include: a new full-sized gym, an elevated walking track, the installation of an elevator and the conversion of a half court gym to a dividable meeting space for community use, according to Stephen Scholten, executive director of the Arlington Height Park District.

The $5.83 million in renovations will be partially funded by a $2.5 million matching grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, according to the Chicago Tribune.
