Vehicle Burglary

The passenger side window of a silver 2012 Lexus CT200H was shattered as it was parked in a residential driveway in the 1100 block of S. Highland Ave. sometime between Aug. 28 at 9 p.m. and Aug. 29 at 6:30 a.m. A Valentine radar detector ($400) and iPhone 5 charger ($30) were taken. Damage to the window is estimated at $300.

Theft

A large manila envelope containing $4,800 in cash and receipts was taken from Motel 6, 441 W. Algonquin Rd. sometime between Aug. 25 at 2 p.m. and Aug. 27 at 4 p.m. Employees believe the envelope was removed off of a desk, and the theft was discovered when employees realized the funds hadn’t been deposited. Police say numerous people who had access to the envelope.

A white male and white female, in their late 30’s to early 40’s ordered food and several drinks valued at $126.34 at Sports Page Bar and Grill, 1330 E. Rand Rd. on Aug. 29 at 10:50 p.m. When the server left the area and went back to give the couple their check, they were gone.

A microwave was removed from a long-term rental room at Red Roof Inn, 22 W. Algonquin Rd. sometime between Aug. 23 at noon and Aug. 30 at 3:57 p.m. The microwave was black ($60) and employees believe it could have been taken by a long-term female guest who stayed there for two years. It was noticed missing after the woman stopped renting the room.

Driving Under the Influence

Anthony Gamino, 29, of the 1100 block of Itasca St., Bensenville was arrested for DUI on Sept. 1 at 3:47 a.m. on Palatine and Arlington Heights Rd. Officers saw Gamino’s vehicle weaving and cross the center lane divider, then make a wide turn onto Palatine Rd. When the vehicle was stopped, officers observed a strong odor of alcohol on the man’s breath and in the vehicle. Inside the vehicle, there were two partially-filled bottles of Jack Daniels next to the center console, and an empty bottle of Bud Lite on the rear floorboard. Gamino also was chargd with improper traffic lane usage, and illegal transportation of alcohol. His court date is Sept. 18.
