Arlington Heights Crime: Louis Vuitton Wallet Stolen at Panera; Criminal Damage to Property

The Arlington Heights Police Department releases crime alerts weekly, and asks for the public's help by reporting information you may have confidentially.

The latest crime alert from the Arlington Heights Police Department.

Scam Alert: A 86-year-old woman received several suspicious calls between May 28 and May 30. The calls came from a subject with what sounded like a Jamaican accent. He identified himself as Jim Kingston a police department detective hired by a public clearing house to locate winners. He asked her to go to Wal-Mart and send $500 to process her winnings. She refused but he continued to call now asking for $300. While officers were talking to the complainant the subject called again. He refused to answer the Arlington Heights officer's questions and would not identify the police department he worked for. The calls eventually stopped.

Theft: A Louis Vuitton wallet was taken from Panera, 5 Rand Road, between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. on May 30. The wallet, valued at $70; contained a Canon camera, valued at $50; an iPhone 4, valued at $600; a driver's license; credit and debit cards and around $70 in cash. Six unauthorized charges were made at the Target in Arlington Heights totaling over $3,000. The offenders are described as a black female who was wearing a white hat, purple shirt, blue jeans and white shoes and the second offender is described as a female black wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans and sandals. A third offender is described as a black female who was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.

Scam Alert: A 71-year-old woman began to interact with a male at Match.com starting on May 1. He represented himself as a 63-year-old named Brian Coleman. The male subject began to ask her to send him money. She sent over $28,000 via Western Union to Poland during May 2013. The victim has never met the offender and only text messaged him a few times.

Criminal Damage to Property: An unknown offender(s) drove their vehicle across a new underground sprinkler system and new sod in a yard in the 500 block of Rammer Avenue. The damage to sprinkler system is unknown and the sod damage is estimated at $300. The incident occurred between May 31 at 11 p.m. and June 1 at 6 a.m.

An unknown offender(s) damaged two mailboxes with an unknown object at homes in the 1600 block of North Highland Avenue between 10:30 p.m. on June 1 and 8 a.m. on June 2. There are no damage estimates. 

An unknown offender(s) used an unknown object to puncture the outer pane of glass causing it to crack in a McDonald's playland area, 1920 N. Arlington Heights Road, between 9:36 and 10:10 p.m. on June 2. There is no damage estimate.
