Criminal Damage to Vehicle

The rear passenger side window of a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country van was smashed out in the 900 block of  E. Shady Way in an apartment parking lot sometime between June 6 at 9 p.m. and June 7 at 2 p.m. Nothing was missing from the vehicle, and damage estimates were not immediately available.

Two flower pots and a bird bath were knocked over in the front yard of a home in the 200 block of N. Wilshire sometime between June 8 at 8 p.m. June 9 at 7 a.m. A plastic light fixture ($20) also was damaged.

Theft

Seven bird feeders and a Woodpecker wood block were taken and/or damaged at a home in the 600 block of E. Clarendon sometime between June 8 at 10 p.m. and June 9 at 2 a.m. The resident told police his dog woke him up at 2 a.m. and he believes that is when the unknown offenders did the damage. The six bird feeders ($300), a mesh bird feeder ($40) and the wood block ($40) were in both the front and backyard.

Two bird feeders ($48 each) with two rain guards ($22 each) and a trellis ($225) were taken from a home in the 400 block of E. Marshall Street sometime between June 8 at 9 p.m. and June 9 at 9 a.m.

A victim riding her bicycle home from South Middle School was driving in the 700 block of Lynden Lane when her Galaxy S3 cell phone ($400) dropped out of her pocket on June 7 at approximately 1 p.m. Once she arrived home, she called her phone and a boy answered, saying he would return the phone if she paid him. Subsequent calls to her cell phone number were unsuccessful.

Burglary

Residents who were moving out of a condominium in the 700 block of E. Algonquin Road had items stolen from their unlocked storage space in their building sometime between June 1 at 2 p.m. and June 8 at 9 a.m. While in the process of moving items out of a storage room, they decided not to load everything into the car, and forgot to put the lock back on to the storage unit. When they came back to clear out the rest of the items, the following were gone: 12 Mikasa champagne flutes ($120), 12 Mikasa white wine glasses ($120), 12 Mikasa red wine glasses ($120), a Mikasa bowl shaped decanter ($60) and a three-foot folding step stool ($50).  All were in the original boxes. Books and sports equipment was left behind by the unknown offender(s).

Burglary

A resident living in a single family home the 1100 block of N. Mitchell Avenue noticed an unidentified man outside of his home on June 9 4:30 a.m. The resident was having coffee, and noticed a white male, five foot ten inches tall, 240 pounds with brown hair outside of his home. The unidentified man was wearing a grey and white t-shirt, gray and white work gloves, a sweatshirt with long sleeves and a hood, and black and white sneakers. He also wore eyeglasses. The offender was observed on the home’s patio, and then walked to a black full-sized vehicle in front of the complainant’s house and drove away. When reviewing video footage from the home’s security system, the unknown man was seen going into the unlocked detached garage through a west side service door, and exited holding something in his hands.  At the time of the police report, it was unknown what item or items were taken.
