Arlington Heights Blotter: Cognac Thief, Vehicle Burglary at European Crystal

Retail Theft

Anthony Jimenez, 19, of the 600 block of Thorndale Ave., Elk Grove Village, removed a 750 ml bottle of Hennessy Black Cognac ($39.99) and left Mariano’s Fresh Market, 802 E. Northwest Hwy. without paying on July 12. Loss prevention observed the theft but did not detain Jimenez. He then returned to the store on July 19 and put a 750 ml bottle of Ciroc Red Berry Vodka ($30.09) under his sweatshirt and again left without paying. Jimenez was then detained and was charged with two counts of misdemeanor retail theft. A court date is scheduled for August 14.

Criminal Damage to Vehicle

Deep scratches were made on the rear passenger side door of a blue 2009 BMW 535 parked in a driveway in the 0-100 block of S. Ridge sometime between July 21 at 9 a.m. and July 22 at 6:30 p.m. Damage estimates were not immediately available.

Theft

A blue customized 1980 Schwinn Traveler men’s bicycle ($150) was removed from a rear yard in the 900 block of N. Dunton Ave. on July 19 between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.  The bicycle was not secured.

An unknown offender was seen cutting the lock that secured a men’s gray Raleigh C40 racing mountain bike ($700-$800) parked at the Metra train depot bicycle rack, 45 W. Northwest Hwy. on July 21 at 12:20 a.m. The offender was wearing a black shirt and black pants and was carrying a red backpack. He left bike on the ground and then rode away on another bicycle.

An unknown offender removed the spare time/rim and hoist device from beneath a silver 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the 100 block of W. Suffield Dr. sometime over the last year. The loss was reported on July 21 and was estimated at $575.

Vehicle Burglary

An unknown offender entered a locked green 2001 Suburu Legacy parked at European Crystal, 519 W. Algonquin Rd. sometime between July 20 at 9 p.m. and July 21 at 1:20 a.m. and removed the following items: a white beaded purse ($45), an Illinois driver’s license, a debit card and a Pioneer stereo face plate (unknown value).
