What is the primary reason you are running for this office? To maintain the current programs and philosophy of the current board which is to do more with less while maintaining fiscal discipline and a balanced budget.
What will be your single most important priority if you get elected? To maintain a balanced budget without a tax increase and to get our reserves down to a 1.5 ratio.
What are the top three issues facing Wheeling Township residents? Stagnant or declining property values while overall real estate tax bills are increasing. Maintaining the current level of service for our senior transportation system. Dealing with increase demand for services while maintaining a balanced budget and not increasing taxes.
What sets you apart from the other candidate? First of all I am an incumbent. It helps when having to deal with the intricacies and complexities of government. Secondly, being an entrepreneur and business owner, the skills and instincts I have developed to be successful in business are also necessary and beneficial to serving the Township. Third, people skills: Working with employees, partners, suppliers, and clients are all skills that apply to this position. Fourth, budget skills: Being able to make decisions in good times and bad and to stand by them even when unpopular. Fifth: The ability to cope with change: No business today can survive without changing and reinventing itself. Government needs this creativity and vision too.
