Residents Concerned About Camelot Park Plans

Arlington Heights residents complained this week that a new parks project will take up too much open space.

Residents near Camelot Park in Arlington Heights voiced concerns this week over the small amount of green space that will be left once renovations are complete at the park, the Daily Herald reports. The park district started a $6 million renovation project last week on the community center and park, which is scheduled to be complete in the fall of 2014.
Residents complained to the village board, which approved plans to build on public open space at the park, saying there will be too little of that space left when the project is finished. Residents said they favor the other renovations, but not expanding the community center so much that it eats up open space.
