Arlington Heights Crime Alert: Purse Thefts at Three Local Businesses

The Arlington Heights Police Department releases crime alerts weekly, and asks for the public's help by reporting information you may have, confidentially.

Arlington Heights Police report three purse were stolen over the last week at Mariano’s, the Goodwill Store and Barnes & Noble.

  • Unknown offender(s) removed a purple purse which was left in a shopping cart at Mariano’s, 802 E. Northwest Highway, on April 6 between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. The purse ($80) contained a wallet, debit/credit cards, a driver’s license, a cell phone ($100) and approximately $175 in cash.
  • Unknown offender(s) removed a blue/purple plastic purse from an unattended shopping cart at the Goodwill Store, 1551 N. Dryden Avenue, on April 4 between 1:30 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. The purse contained a black wallet, driver’s license, state ID, credit/debit cards, $80 in cash and gift cards.
  • An offender, identified as a female African American, standing 5 foot 10 inches tall, weighing 120 pounds, and wearing a red hat and black clothing. The offender was seen removing a black purse from the back of a chair next to the victim at Barnes & Noble, 13  W. Rand Road on April 4 between 3 p.m. and 3:07 p.m. The purse contained credit/debit cards, a cell phone, driver’s license and approximatey $15 in cash. A different offender stood behind the woman as the person described removed the purse. The offender was seen driving a silver 4-door Chevy Malibu.
