St. Viator Graduate, Athletic Star Identified as Drowning Victim in Lake Michigan

A Hoffman Estates native, St. Viator graduate and employee of Zurich in Schaumburg has been identified as a drowning victim in Lake Michigan boat fire in late May, the Daily Herald reports.

Twenty-seven-year-old Megan Blenner was recently identified as a drowning victim in a May 31 boat accident on Lake Michigan, according to the Daily Herald. 

The paper reports that Blenner, along with three others were on the boat when it caught fire far off the shore of Navy Pier. One man was found alive in the water; the two other people on the boat have yet to be recovered from the water. 

According to her obituary, Blenner attended St. Viator High School, where she was a member of the 2003 IHSA championship soccer team, and graduated in 2004. The young woman went on to attend Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin where she was All-Academic, All-Conference who competed in basketball and soccer.

Blenner attended Northwestern University where she was completing her CPA certification, and worked as a financial analyst at Zurich in Schaumburg, her obituary states.  

Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 11 from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights.
