Reports: Woman Who Died In Fire Committed Suicide

The woman who died in an apartment fire this week in Arlington Heights committed suicide, the Daily Herald reported.

The 36-year-old died early Thursday morning in a fire at the Hancock Square apartment complex at Arlington Station. The woman lived alone in the fourth floor apartment and was identified by the Chicago Tribune as Iesha Bailey.

The woman died from carbon monoxide intoxication, smoke inhalation and from multiple self-inflicted cuts, the Daily Herald reported the Chicago Medical Examiner's office found.

The fire is believed to have started in the bedroom. Bailey was found unconcsious and unresponsive with no burns on her body.

As Patch previously reported, firefighters reponded to a fire in a fourth floor apartment on the south side of the complex building, 299 N. Dunton Avenue, around 3:48 a.m. 

After forcing entry into the unit, firefighters noticed a working fire in the unit and quickly located a female who was unconscious and unresponsive. Discovered with life-threatening injuries, the woman was transported to Northwest Community hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Two Arlington Heights officers were hospitalized for smoke inhalation and a firefighter was treated for a knee injury at Northwest Community Hospital. All have since been released.
