A Crystal Lake family using a deep fryer to prepare their Thanksgiving meal cooked more than they anticipated on Thursday, the Chicago Tribune reports.
A homeowner in the 700 block of Windsor Drive, near Crystal Lake South High School, was deep frying a turkey in his garage when a fire broke out in the garage at about noon, the Tribune article stated.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the garage. The garage sustained heavy damage and the contents were ruled a complete loss due to the smoke, heat and water damage. The fire caused $80,000 in damage, the article said.
No one was injured in the fire.
Des Plaines
The parents of a Maine West High School student filed a lawsuit on Nov. 19 that accuses the school district, faculty and staff of allowing their son to be physically and sexually assaulted as part of a known hazing ritual for the boys' varsity soccer team.
, when, on Sept. 27, Michael Divencenzo, varsity soccer coach, Emilio Rodriguez, freshmen soccer coach, and other coaches ordered a “campus run” after the freshman soccer player was promoted to the varsity squad.
As a result of an investigation by Des Plaines police, six Maine West students were petitioned to juvenile court for various offenses, Deputy Chief Nick Treantafeles stated in an email to Patch. Treantafeles stated that because the investigation involved juveniles, no other information would be released.
Palatine
Family Cat Dies in Fire
A house fire in the 200 block of E. Cedarwood Court claimed the life of the family cat and left the house uninhabitable.
No one was home at the time of the Nov. 20 fire. The fire was reported about noon by a passer-by who saw smoke coming from the tri-level, single family home. Palatine firefighters were on the scene within minutes, and began to extinguish the fire and ventilate for smoke and other gases. The fire was under control by about 12:11 p.m.
Buffalo Grove
Buffalo Grove police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who robbed PNC Bank Monday afternoon.
Police said a white man, about 5-foot-8, who was wearing glasses, a Chicago Bears hat and striped sweater entered the bank's Lake-Cook Road location and demanded money from a teller at 4:50 p.m. Nov. 19.
No weapon was displayed or mentioned. The teller turned over an undisclosed amount of money and the man left on foot, police said. No one was injured during the incident.
Woodstock
Sheriff: Charges Filed in Animal Abuse Case
A Park Ridge woman _ who owns a Woodstock home where 91 animals in various states of neglect were rescued _ has been charged with animal cruelty, McHenry County Sheriff’s deputies said.
Virginia E. Dinucci, 54, of 1731 Pavilion Way, is charged with three counts of cruel treatment and 12 counts of owner’s duties, according to the sheriff's office. Her bond was set at $1,000.
Sheriff’s deputies went to 8617 Bull Run Trail in Woodstock on October 29 for a well being check but found 91 animals, some dead, in the home.

I saw the picture of the fool who robbed th PNC. Hope this guy doesn't spend all the money cause he's gonna have to give it back when they do catch him. Guess he thought he'd be to suspicious if he wore a mask. Kind of looks like a negative of Waldo.
1. put turkey in deep fryer fill the fryer with water to cover the bird. 2. Remove the bird and mark the level of the water in the pot . 3. Fill pot with oil to the marked level. 4. Heat oil 5. Turn burner off and slowly lower dryed turkey into oil. 6. Clean any spilled oil and relight burner. Most fires from turkeys are from oil over spilling pot and lighting on the open flame. from not following directions.
