Woman Faces Charges on DUI, Battery and Felony Criminal Damage
A routine stop turns into a woman assaulting an officer and damaging a patrol car.
The Arlington Heights Police arrested a 28-year-old Gurnee woman at 903 East Algonquin Road at 3 a.m. Sunday, July 15 on charges of driving under the influence, improper lane usage, failure to signal, misdemeanor and felony criminal damage to government property.
Stacy Samerly, who was heading eastbound on Algonquin Road, was pulled over by police, after they saw her car swerving. Police found strong alcohol on her breath and took her into custody. As Samerly was handcuffed in the backseat of the patrol car, she became irate, screamed at the officer and kicked the rear driver side window out.
Samerly's anger continued as she taken into lock-up at the station, as she hit an officer in the face, while they were trying to get her to sit down. The officer was not hurt.

Samerly will appear at the Third Municipal District courthouse on Aug. 23.
