Investigator Todd Radek Named 2012 Arlington Heights Police Department Officer of the Year

The L.W. Calderwood Officer of the Year Award in presented annually to the police officer who contributes most significantly to the overall betterment of the community.

The Arlington Heights Police Department has announced the L.W. Calderwood Officer of the Year Award recipient.

Investigator Todd Radak of the Arlington Heights Police Department has been named recipient of the award. Over his 19-year career with the department, he has worked as a Patrol Officer, Crisis Intervention Team Member, Criminal Investigator and instructor for the Arlington Heights Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy.

Radek is currently assigned to the department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau.

“Investigator Todd Radek has established an outstanding performance record that includes Commendations, many Distinguished Performance Citations, and complimentary letters from citizens,” a press release from the Arlington Heights Police Department stated.

He has demonstrated his commitment to assist individuals who are victims of financial exploitation.  Many of these cases involved elderly and disabled individuals. He has developed a reputation of possessing a strong work ethic combined with a compassion for all victims of crime, the release stated.

Nominations for the honor can be made by all members of the department, and the winner is determined by a majority vote of supervisory staff.

The award is presented annually to the police officer who has demonstrated the most significant contributions to overall betterment of the community, the release stated.

It is named for Bill Calderwood, who was the Arlington Heights Chief of Police from January 1958 through November 1976.

The Arlington Heights Police Department and the Arlington Heights Rotary Club will honor Radek at an award luncheon on Thursday, March 14 at European Crystal Banquet & Conference Center.
