First Full-Time Arlington Heights Firefighter Dies

David Mills died at the age of 84 on Monday after a short illness, according to the Daily Herald.

David Mills, the first full-time firefighter for the Arlington Heights Fire Department, died Monday after a short illness, according to the Daily Herald. He was 84 years old. 

Mills was hired to the fire department in 1957, was eventually promoted to deputy chief and stayed with the department for 32 years, according to the Daily Herald.

Mills also worked for several years as a volunteer tutor for the Arlington Heights School District and the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, according to Mills' obituary. 

A visitation will be held Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. at Meadows Funeral Home, 3615 Kirchoff Road in Rolling Meadows, and services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held at Windridge Cemetery in Cary, according to the obituary.
