Arlington Heights Police Blotter: Residential Burglary Attempt, Three Vehicle Burglaries and More

Another residential burglary attempt and three more vehicle burglaries reported in Arlington Heights.

Residential Burglary Attempt:

The unknown offender or offenders forcibly defeated the rear deadbolt lock of a condo in the 1100 block of E. Algonquin Road. While the deadbolt was defeated, the door handle lock remained intact and it did not look like the burglars were ever able to get inside the condo. The apparent failed burglary attempt occurred sometime between 8 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18.

According to the Arlington Heights Polcie Department, this is the second residential burglary attempted in just five days.

American Flag Stolen:

An American flag and wooden pole were stolen from the front of a home in the 500 block of S. Dunton Avenue. The patriotic display was stolen sometime late Saturday or early Sunday, Nov. 18. Recently purchased, the flag cost about $100.

--Three Vehicle Burglaries--

Laptop Stolen from Cooper’s Hawk Lot:

Inside a black computer bag, a Dell laptop, valued at $1,500 and miscellaneous financial documents were stolen from a Honda Pilot Wednesday, Nov. 14. Parked outside the Cooper’s Hawk restaurant at 798 W. Algonquin Road, the vehicle’s back passenger side window was shattered and the items were removed between 6:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Window Smashed, School Books Stolen:

The front drive side window of a Jeep Compass was broken out and a black leather laptop bag, containing schoolbooks and paperwork, was taken from the vehicle. Parked in the lot of the Guitar Center at 2375 S. Arlington Heights Road, the burglary occurred sometime Friday, Nov. 16 

Circle Saw Taken from Truck:

Left the parking lot of Arlington Grooming Academy for about 30 minutes, a Dewalt circular saw, valued at $250, was removed from the open tailgate of a GMC Yukon. Friday, Nov. 16, the saw was stolen from the lot at 1732 W. Algonquin Road between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
