Arlington Heights Police Blotter: 10 Property, Vehicle Damage Reports and 2 Thefts

Ten property, vehicle damage reports and two thefts in Arlington Heights.

Two Thefts Reported in Arlington Heights:

Not So Lucky Irish Flag

A blue Notre Dame flag and aluminum pole, valued at $60, were stolen from the front of a house in the 600 block of S. Salem Avenue. The Irish flag was taken Saturday, Nov. 17.

Tires Taken, Car Left on Jacks

Valued at $3,000, all four tires and rims were removed from a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancers in the parking lot of a condo complex in the 1400 block of E. Central Road. Taken Monday, Nov. 19, the vehicle was found on two jacks.

10 Criminal Damage to Property/Vehicles Reported:

 Grinch Strikes Christmas Snoopy

Valued at $200, an inflatable Snoopy holiday decoration was popped in the front yard of a home in the 0-100 block of S. Derbyshire Lane around 1:00 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 25. A white male wearing a brown sweatshirt was seen running from the area. This is the third time in five years the resident has had property damage.

Drive By Fruiting

The unknown offender or offenders threw what appeared to be a fruitcake at a silver 2012 Toyota RAV4, damaging the side view mirror. Parked on the street in the 400 block of N. Wilshire Lane, the vehicle was caked sometime between noon and 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. No damage estimate at this time.

Don’t Throw Your Weight Around

An 8-pound weight was thrown at the back of a vehicle parked on the street in the 600 block of S. Dwyer Avenue. Thrown late Saturday, Nov. 24, the 8-pound weight shattered the rear window and dented the hatch of the 2002 Ford Escape. Damage is estimated at more than $1,500.

Statue Smashed

The statue of a girl holding an open umbrella was swiped off a porch and smashed in the street in front of the home in the 400 block of S. Beverly Lane. Valued at $200, the statue was smashed the night of Wednesday, Nov. 21.

Culver’s Sign Squiggled Again

Squiggly lines were scratched in the blue area on the Culver’s sign at 2060 E. Northwest Highway sometime between 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16 and noon Saturday, Nov. 17. About two months earlier, a white substance was used to draw the same type of lines on the same sign. No damage estimate at this time.

Smashed But Not Stolen

The driver and passenger side windows of a vehicle were shattered in the parking lots of XSport Fitness located at 960 W. Dundee Road. The windows were broken between 12:30 a.m. and 1:55 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21 but nothing was taken from the black 1999 Pontiac GrandAm. There were items of value in plain view but unknown offender or offenders left all those goods behind. No damage estimate at this time.

Scratch Your Head Not My Hood

The hood of a 2000 black Cadillac Deville was scratched in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 100 block of S. Dryden Place sometime between Nov. 23 and Saturday, Nov. 24.

Cars Scratched in Street Parking

Parked on the street in the 700 block of E. Oakton Street, two vehicles were scratched the afternoon of Saturday, Nov. 24. The passenger sides of a blue 2008 Dodge Caravan and a green 2012 Subaru Outback were both scraped. No damage estimate at this time.

Mailbox Maimed

A plastic mailbox, valued at $100, was knocked off the post in front of a home in the 2600 block of Chapel Hill Drive the night of Thursday, Nov. 22.

Box Bashed

A mailbox in the 700 block of S. Dryden Place was struck twice, causing $60 in damages, sometime between 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 and 7 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 25.
