UPDATED: Arlington Heights Man Still Missing: Naperville Area Residents Offer Their Support

84-year-old Eugene Jonnson's last known location was in Yorkville when he asked for directions to Naperville. Flyers are being passed out by residents in the area, and truckers are sharing information, according to the Aurora Beacon News.

UPDATED on Friday, August 30 at 10 a.m. with additional information about sightings and who gave directions to Jonnson when he was last seen.

The last known location of missing 84-year-old Eugene Jonnson was in Yorkville on Friday, August 23 at 12:45 a.m. While there, authorities say he asked for directions to Ogden Avenue and Route 59 in Naperville.

Commander Mike Hernandez with the Arlington Heights Police told Arlington Heights Patch, that Jonnson approached a Yorkville police officer at 12:45 a.m.

Since Jonnson's family reported him missing just hours later at 2:50 a.m. on Friday, August 23, the man's license plate had not yet been flagged. The Yorkville officer said Jonnson did not appear disoriented.

The officer gave him directions and Jonnson went on his way.

Ever since then, residents - and even truckers - in and around the southern suburbs have been looking for and getting the word out about Jonnson, and his vehicle, according to the Aurora Beacon News. The Arlington Heights resident was last seen driving a 2004 Buick LeSabre 4-door, with Illinois license plate JONS507.

A woman from Aurora’s far east side told the paper family and friends have been looking through parking lots, a Plano church has been passing out flyers and truckers have been sharing information about Jonnson - with fellow truckers.

Hernandez said there have been a few reports from people in south suburbs including Bolingbrook and Oswego, but police have not been able to confirm those alleged sightings.

In one case, Hernandez said, a woman said she believed she may have seen Jonnson on Saturday, August 24 or Sunday, August 25 at one of three stores. Police are currently working with each of the stores and reviewing video footage to determine if that man sighted was indeed Jonnson.

There has been no activity on Jonnson's credit cards since he went missing.

Hernandez added that flyers and regular communications have been sent out by the Arlington Heights Police Department to all area police departments regarding the case, including his description and details about the vehicle he was last seen driving.

Eugene Jonnson is a male Caucasian, 84-years old, standing 5’10” and weighing 190 pounds, with gray, balding hair and blue eyes. He normally wears eyeglasses.

Police do not believe foul play is involved, but urge the public's help due to Jonnson's apparent confused state of mind and age.

Inquiries can be directed to the Criminal Investigation Bureau of the Arlington Heights Police Department at 847-368-5348 or 847-368-5300-after hours and on the weekends.
