Arlington Heights Blotter: School Burglarized, Decorations Stolen

Old St. James School Building Burglarized

Unknown offender(s) opened a south side basement window and entered the old school building at 821 N. Arlington Heights Road. Valued at $15, two cases of Coke were removed from the building and three glass flower vases, valued at $20, were broken. According to police, one of those vases was used to break out the $150 wired glass window to a classroom at the old St. James School building.

The burglary occurred sometime between 4 p.m. Dec. 8 and 8:40 a.m. Dec. 9. According to police, youth were heard in the area around 10 p.m.

Grinch Steals Winnie the Pooh Christmas Decoration

Unknown offender(s) removed a plastic Winnie the Pooh Christmas decoration from the front yard of a home in the 1600 block of S. Princeton Avenue. Valued at $30, the decoration was stolen between Dec. 8 and Dec. 9.

Retirement Home Robbed

Unknown offender(s) entered the unlocked retirement home apartment and removed a Royal Dolton figurine of a woman holding a yellow dress valued at about $60. In the 1200 block of W. Central Road, the theft occurred before noon Dec. 7.

Security Camera, Car Smashed

A hard object was used to smash a hanging coach light and a security camera above the light before the unknown offender(s) shattered two windows on a 2003 Jeep around 1 a.m. Dec. 9. Parked in the 100 block of E. Henry Street, a grapefruit sized rock was also thrown through the vehicle’s front picture window.

Thief Runs Off With Reindeer

Valued at $100, a metal wire reindeer with white lights valued was removed from the front yard of a home in the 0-100 block of S. Gibbons Avenue sometime before 7 a.m. Dec. 8.

Culvers Vandalized for the Fourth Time

Unknown offender(s) scratched lines over the video screen and drew purple lines on the drive-up speaker and display board at Culver’s, 2060 E. Northwest Highway. This is the fourth incident of damage at the restaurant over the past few months.

Rental Car Robbed

Parked in the lot at the Red Roof Inn, 22 W. Algonquin Road, an unlocked rental car was burglarized between 10 p.m. Dec. 7 and 5:30 a.m. Dec. 8. Valued at $500, a tan canvas Canon bag containing a Nikon D40 camera was removed from the Toyota RAV 4.

Medal Stolen from Car

Unknown offender(s) entered the unlocked 2001 Buick Park Ave and removed approximately $8 in loose change and a St. Christopher medal, valued at $10. Parked in the 100 block of S. Patton Avenue, the car was burglarized between 7 p.m. Dec. 8 and noon Dec. 9.

Two Vehicles Burglarized

An unlocked Chevy Malibu and Cavalier were entered and approximately $5 in loose change was removed. Parked in the 300 block of N. Yale Avenue, the two vehicle were burglarized between 7 p.m. Dec. 8 and 5 a.m. Dec. 9
