Video: 3 Killed in Arlington Heights House Fire

Three people were killed in a house fire in Arlington Heights.

The cause of a Wednesday fire that killed three women is still under investigation but is not considered suspicious, the Daily Herald reported.

The newspaper reported that three adult women – ages 93, 62 and 40 – died in the fire. The names of the women were being withheld pending notification of family.

Updated 11:22 a.m., Nov. 5 The cause of a fire that killed three people early Wednesday morning near Arlington Heights Road and Sigwalt Avenue is under investigation.

Arlington Height police said that at about 3:15 a.m. an officer on patrol found heavy smoke coming from a home in the 300 block of S. Dunton Avenue. The Arlington Heights Fire Department arrived on the scene and began fighting the fire.

Three people were found in the home and were unconscious and unresponsive. They pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said that no smoke detectors were sounding when officers arrived and it is unknown if smoke detectors were in the home. The home sustained substantial damage and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

The names of those killed in the blaze are being withheld pending positive identification by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Original Post: 7:25 a.m. Three people were killed overnight in a house fire in the 300 block of South Dunton Avenue in Arlington Heights, according to NBC Chicago.

Police driving in the area around 3:20 a.m. Wednesday smelled smoke, but by the time firefighters arrive, the blaze had made its way through the two-story brick home, according to the Chicago Tribune. 

The blaze caused part of the roof to collapse, according to NBC Chicago. Officials found the three people inside the house, according to the Chicago Tribune.
