Obituary: Richard Joseph Teutsch of Arlington Heights

Richard Joseph Teutsch was a longtime member of St. Thomas of Villanova Church in Palatine.

Richard Joseph Teutsch, age 80, was a resident of Arlington Heights for 44 years. 

Richard was a man of great faith. He was the devoted and loving husband of Jane for 55 years.  Loving father of Mark Richard Teutsch and Elizabeth Anne (Jim) Hoshaw, and adoring grandfather of Gwendolyn, Forrest, Linus and  Ioana Teutsch and Meghan and Matthew Hoshaw.  

Brother of Margaret (the late Paul) Yates and the late Carl J. (Rose Mary) Teutsch and Rose Marie (Robert) Roach. Fond uncle of many. 

Richard was a loyal friend, keeper of family traditions and a competitive bridge player.  He had a great love for wood working, fishing in Wisconsin and growing roses in his garden. Richard earned a degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois. 

After graduating from U of I, he served in the Army at Edgewood Arsenal in the Chemical Corp. in Baltimore, MD.  He was a dedicated 35 year employee of the Quaker Oats Company, working in Cedar Rapids, IA, Shiremanstown, PA and the Chicago Corporate office. He was a member of A.S.M. E. and I. S.P.E.

Richard was an active member of St. Thomas of Villanova Church.  He was devoted to his faith, serving the parish in many capacities, including Eucharist Minister, Christ Renew His Parish, the Parish Council, taught religious education, fundraising of building projects, and a member of the New Life Choir. 

Richard was also a Eucharistic Minister at Northwest Community Hospital for nearly 20 years.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 7th, from 4-9 p.m. at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Hwy., Palatine. Funeral Saturday, 9:30am from the funeral home to St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 1201 E. Anderson Dr., Palatine for Mass at 10am. Interment at All Saints Cemetery.
