Grand Frame a Family Business Growing in Arlington Heights

Framing store at forefront of industry, while remaining committed to customer service
Arlington Heights, IL, March 11th, 2014– When he was just a junior in high school, Gary Grana opened up a tiny frame shop in downtown Arlington Heights. Today, Grand Frame is celebrating it’s 40th anniversary and has grown into a 8,000 square foot full service retail and corporate center with a budding e-commerce division.
A local business from top-to-bottom, Grand Frame thrives on its customer commitment, always “going the extra mile” to complete an order to the highest standards. Despite the presence of nearby chain stores with framing capacity, Grand Frame has continued to flourish, and flourish in a down economy.
“We’re known for our personal service and goodwill,” said Grana. “We perform museum quality work and our customers know that. They aren’t comfortable with the quick job the big box store does.”
Grand Frame is a family business in every sense. Grana started Grand Frame with his Parents Greg and Rita in 1974. When he married his wife Carrie in 1979, she also joined the business. Today, the Granas’ son Matt is actively involved in the operations, and is the face many customers see today when they walk in to the storefront at 209 S. Arlington Heights Rd.
The younger Grana’s involvement has helped usher in a new era of Grand Frame.
High-end, custom framing for flat screen televisions, as well as a patented 3-D, shadowbox system developed by Gary, are now important pieces of business of the Grand Frame business offering. The Grana's are also bringing custom framing to the Instagram era with an online service that will allow customers to build custom frames from their photos on the popular photo sharing app.
“You wouldn’t necessarily think of something taken with a cell phone as art, but our customers are doing some amazing things with their phone cameras and we want to help them display that art,” said Matt Grana.
The new service is expected to launch April 15th, 2014 on the 40th Anniversary of Grand Frame.
In Lieu of a event to celebrate their 40th anniversary, the Grana's and Grand Frame are donating a large collection of rare autographed sports memorbilia from the Superbowl Champion 1985 Chicago Bears to the Metropolis Preforming arts center in Arlington Heights. These items will be available for auction at the annual gala, scheduled for April 26th 2014 at Rolling Green Country Club.
Grand Frame has been recognized by industry peers as one of the best framing stores in the country. With a strong emphasis on customer service and innovative products, Grand Frame is expected to continue that track record into the next generation.
