Art Around the Grounds at the Historical Museum

Local artists set up their studios outdoors on the museum grounds during the Art Around the Grounds event from 1:30-4:30 p.m. on Sept. 16, at the , 110 W. Fremont, Arlington Heights. Admission is free.

This year’s event coincides with the Worldwide Plein Air Paint Out and many plein air artists will be on the grounds creating paintings and pastels. The artists share the inspiration and camaraderie in working in an outdoor studio without boundaries or restrictions.  The museum grounds offer a variety of subject matter which includes the beautiful gardens and its historical buildings.

The public is invited to watch them work and ask about technique and media use.  Artists  are encouraged to drop in and join the Paint Out.  Please bring your own materials including easel and chair.

Artists working in other media and formats will also be on the grounds during the event. Other media include woodworking, collage, and abstract painting.

The Heritage Gallery will be open during the event.  The current exhibit, Arlington Artists on Display, features the original work of 53 local artists.  The mixed media exhibit features oils, acrylics, pencil, textiles, sculpture, photography and watercolors.  The exhibit will be on display until December 9.  The Gallery is open Friday-Sunday from 1:30-4:30 p.m.

Tours of the grounds and buildings will be given at 2pm and 3pm.  The fee is $4 adults and $2 children.
