The new Pace bus service for Arlington Heights began this week.
If you’re in need of a ride, the new service is a crossover between dial-a-ride service and a fixed bus route, a press release from Pace states.
There are special pick-up and drop-off spots within the community. You can choose to go to and front certain locations bordered by Euclid Avenue on the north, Arlington Heights Road on the east, Route 53 on the west, and I-90/ Golf Road on the south.
The cost to a spot within these locations is $1.75. Anyone can use the service.
"Pace has been operating Call-n-Ride routes for roughly four years, and they've been a welcome addition to our service area," stated Pace Chairman of the Board Richard Kwasneski in a press release. "Call-n-Rides allow us to cost-effectively meet demands for transit that would be difficult to serve with a regular fixed bus route, and riders appreciate the flexibility of being able to schedule a trip when they need to travel."
To request a ride, passengers should call (224) 803-9277 a minimum of one hour before they need to travel. The bus is available Monday-Friday between 6:10am and 6:30pm. Once per hour, the vehicle makes a timed connection at the Arlington Heights Metra Station to board and alight customers. Passengers should board the bus at the shelter on East Payton Run located southeast of the Metra station, a press release from Pace states.
Points of interest within the Arlington Heights Rolling Meadows Call-n-Ride service area include Northwest Community Hospital, Cook County Courthouse, downtown Arlington Heights and several area shopping centers. In addition to transit connections to Metra, the Call-n-Ride connects with three Pace bus routes, with connections to Woodfield Shopping Center, the Rosemont CTA Blue Line Station, Oakton Community College, Golf Mill Shopping Center, downtown Des Plaines and downtown Evanston.
