Luther Village Swans Fred and Ethel Grow Their Family

Each year, a pair of swans takes up residence at the Luther Village retirement community in Arlington Heights.

Each year, a pair of swans takes up residence at the Luther Village retirement community in Arlington Heights. Luther Village residents named the couple Fred and Ethel, after characters on TV's "I Love Lucy." Past swan couples have been named Lucy and Ricky, and Fred and Ginger. 

The swans have hatched one young cygnet, shown swimming with its parents on Sunday, July 20.
