Arlington Heights Fire Department "Fill the Boot" Fundraiser Needs You to Help Reach Goal

On Friday, May 3, Arlington Heights firefighters walked through major intersections garnering donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. They are about $700 away from their fundraising goal to help area residents.

Despite the cold, wet temperatures on Friday, May 3, Arlington Heights firefighters were out on the streets of Arlington Heights garnering donations to “Fill the Boot” to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

New MDA Ambassador, two-year-old Ben Noble of Arlington Heights, along with his mom, Lauren, were out with the firefighters collecting donations Friday.

Ben was diagnosed in October, 2012 with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, and funds raised will go toward providing services not only for the toddler, but other area residents in need of them.

The fundraising goal of $20,000 for MDA is not quite there yet, but certainly within reach.

And the AHFD needs your help to get there.

“I am proud to announce that with the help of the AHFD, Local 3105, Mariano's, Valli Produce, Arlington Heights Ford, Forest View Elementary School, the Drive 97.1fm, 102.3fm, and all the businesses that donated items that were auctioned off the evening of the Benefit," said Ted Peterson, Arlington Heights firefighter and MDA coordinator.

"A special thanks to Eddie's Restaurant for hosting the event, we had another record year and collected $19,368.90 for the AHFD MDA Boot Drive,” Peterson said.

“We beat last years total, which was amazing considering the temps and rain we dealt with all day…you can still "Make a Muscle" and "Fill the Boot,” Peterson said.

"Individuals can still go and make a secure online donation on our website, and help us reach that $20,000 goal and learn more about MDA and its affiliation with the AHFD," Peterson said.

With your donation, 100% of the proceeds go to providing services to the local kids and families in need of help, he said.
