The Peoples' Bank Commits to 3 Year Agreement to Sponsor Sounds of Summer Concerts

The Peoples’ Bank of Arlington Heights and the Village of Arlington Heights have announced a 3 year extension of the bank’s commitment to the annual Sounds of Summer Concert series. The current sponsorship agreement expires at the end of this summer so the extension will carry the partnership through the summer of 2017.

“We feel privileged to have the opportunity to continue on as the primary sponsor of this great summertime tradition,” said Peoples’ Bank President Frank Appleby. “The Sounds of Summer brings neighbors, friends, and families together just outside the door of our downtown location and we want to do our part to ensure the viability of these concerts. The crowds have been large and enthusiastic and it gives us great pleasure to see our banners on site.”

The Sounds of Summer concerts take place most Thursday and Friday nights throughout summer in the village’s downtown Harmony Park. Musical acts offer a wide range of styles including jazz, pop, folk, ethnic, and even brass bands. Residents bring blankets and chairs along with food and drink to enjoy the free performances. Due to the increasing popularity of the events, Vail Avenue is now closed off for the Friday night shows to allow more room for the growing crowds.

“We’ve seen the Sounds of Summer continue to flourish in recent years and our ability to offer this type of free entertainment would not be possible without the support of The Peoples’ Bank,” said Community Relations Coordinator for the village, Nancy Kluz. “The three year commitment gives us stability and certainty for planning and budgeting and it really encourages everyone to know that this great summertime tradition will be here to stay.”

Appleby feels that it is the role of a community bank to support events like this. “As a truly local, independent bank we take our role in the community very seriously. It’s important to invest in Arlington Heights whether it is through loans and services that help homeowners and new businesses, or through sponsorships that support the events and activities that are important to our neighbors and customers.”

The bank has served as the primary sponsor for the annual Frontier Days Stampede and Arlington Heights Park District events such as the National Night Out and Picnic in the Park for a number of years. In addition, they serve as Premium Sponsor for the Special Events Commission which hosts celebrations such as the Heart of Gold Dinner and the Mane Event. The bank also supports the ICBA annual scholarship contest, Rockin’ with the Cops, and new this year, Gina’s Gallop which helps raise funds to fight teenage depression.
