Founded in 1896, the Arlington Heights Memorial Library has come a long way and now resides at 500 N. Dunton Ave., making its home their since June 1968. The building was 40,000 square feet and was designed to hold 123,000 books. In subsequent years, citizens twice approved bonds to purchase books to meet the needs of the rapidly growing community. In 2011, the library was voted business of the year by the members of the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce at its annual installation and recognition dinner. Besides books, it offers eBooks, Blu-Ray discs and a plethora of resources for seniors, kids, teens, parents and working professionals. The library offers classes in technology, business and genealogy study. For all its digital patrons, there is a digital studio as well. The library plans to add more in the coming years.
