New Police Station For Arlington Heights

The $40 million station is part of the village's new capital plan

The Arlington Heights Village Board approved a 5-year-capital plan this week that includes a new state-of-the-art police station, the Daily Herald is reporting.

The $40 million station would be built without any increase in taxes to residents, village officials said. It is just one of several improvements outlined in the plan, which takes the village through the year 2014.

No increase in taxes to residents -- I say don't spend the money and GIVE RESIDENTS A TAX DECREASE!

I have heard "state of the art" for many years and it just means "spend" " spend" and none of it works.

I think the current building was built in 1969 and they think it can not be remodeled. If true, I would like to see them relocate the majority of the police facility into the underutilized, over-built city hall. "Following the Jones" is just government speack for justify a new project. It rarely brings cost savings ideas to the forefront. Even though I'm not in favor or the current PD $39 million plan, I'd rather spend $39 million on our partk than $40 million on one police station.

What would be amazing and entertaining is how the attitudes towards the police change for these brave commenters when the isht hits the fan and the inside of their boxer shorts. When they're stopping you for speeding or blowing thru stop signs in school zones at dismissal or driving drunk 3x the limit or beating your wife to a pulp they're all a bunch of morons, peace nazis and bullies. But when the maple tree's branch scrapes a scary noise out against the den window it's into the closet and a 911 call in breathless fear awaiting the female cop's arrival to scare away the monsters for your frightened poopy pants.
We know.
We know.
